SAN DIEGO

Authorities said Emako Mendoza was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital in serious condition following the attack Saturday in the Paradise Hills neighborhood.

She suffered injuries to her body, arms and legs.

The pit bulls, which belonged to a neighbor, got into the woman's yard through a hole in the fence.

Mendoza's husband, James Mendoza, said she may lose her leg and may lose an arm.

Police said animal control officers euthanized the dogs and are investigating the owner.
