Singer Amy Winehouse canceled part of her European tour on Sunday after she was booed during her performance in Serbia for being late and displaying odd behavior on stage, according to the Associated Press.

The concert took place on Saturday in Belgrade, Serbia's capital. The concert was supposed to kick off Winehouse's 12-date tour of Europe. However, the singer decided to cancel upcoming appearances in Istanbul and Athens, which were supposed to take place on June 20 and June 22 respectively.

According to the wire service, Winehouse's spokespeople said the situation would be "worked out as soon as possible." It is unknown whether she would attend the rest of her European tour. Her next scheduled concert date after Athens is July 8 in Bilbao, Spain.

During her performance in Belgrade, which can be seen in a YouTube video below, the singer was booed after she arrived almost an hour late before stumbling to the stage and appearing unable to remember the lyrics to her songs, the wire service reports. At one point she dropped the microphone, mumbled through her songs and occasionally disappeared, leaving her band to keep on playing.

"Despite feeling sure that she wanted to fulfill these commitments, she has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home," a statement from Winehouse said, according to The Associated Press.

The singer left rehab earlier this month for alcohol addiction, a week after checking herself in.

"She has completed her assessment at the Priory Clinic in London and will continue as an outpatient," the singer's publicist Tracey Miller said in a statement obtained by the Reuters news wire. "She is now looking forward to playing shows around Europe this summer and is raring to go. She would like to send a huge thanks to all her fans for the messages of support she has received over the last week and can't wait to see them."

The 27-year-old British soul singer, known for the song "Rehab," checked herself into a treatment facility in London on May 25.

Winehouse last recorded her own music in 2006, when she released the Grammy-winning album "Back to Black." Earlier this year, she performed concerts in Brazil.

Throughout the past few years, Winehouse appeared drunk at concerts, engaged in violent club confrontations and gradually lost weight. She was rushed to the hospital in 2007 after a drug overdose. She checked into a rehab clinic in January 2008 after the release of an online video that allegedly showed her smoking crack cocaine. Her father said later that year that Winehouse, a cigarette chain smoker, had developed the lung condition emphysema.
