Doug Anthony Hutchison, a 51-year-old actor best known for his roles in "The Green Mile" and more recently, "LOST," announced on his website over the weekend that he married 16-year-old aspiring country singer Courtney Alexis Stodden.
Hutchison, who played DHARMA initiative leader and resident hippie Horace Goodspeed on "LOST," wed Stodden in Las Vegas in May. According to a statement on the actor's website, "Doug Anthony Hutchison and Courtney Alexis Stodden became husband and wife on Friday May 20th, 2011, at 12 pm in The Little Chapel of Flowers in Las Vegas, Nevada."
The actor's statement continued, "Mr. and Mrs. Hutchison live together happily ensconced in their Hollywood Hills home with their lil' pups, Everette and Tuna."
The couple issued a statement to E! Online regarding the controversy about their union saying, "We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial. But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."
The Clark County, Nevada Marriage Bureau website states that the legal age an applicant can apply for a marriage license is 18. However, minor applicants aged 16 or 17 may also apply for a license, but must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. According to E! Online it was Stodden's mother who signed the legal consent form on the marriage license.
