OTRC: J.K. Rowling reveals more about 'Pottermore,' says e-books to be sold on website

J.K. Rowling has revealed a little more information about her new interactive website, "Pottermore," saying that her popular "Harry Potter" books will soon be sold for the first time as e-books on the site, which will also contain new information about its characters and settings.

All seven novels about the wizard boy's adventures will be available in October as audiobooks and ebooks in multiple languages, the author said at a news conference in London.

The PotterMore.com website is Rowling's new project and will allow users to immerse themselves in Harry Potter's world through games, social networking and an online store. The site goes live for selected users July 31, but will be open to everyone in October.

After keeping her fans waiting, Rowling released more details about her website in a video posted on a YouTube page. Rowling called Pottermore an "online reading experience unlike any other" and thanked her fans.

"Thirteen years after the first 'Harry Potter' book was published, I'm still astonished and delighted by the response the story's met," Rowling said. "I'm still receiving hundreds of letters every week, and Harry's fans have remained enthusiastic and inventive as ever."

Rowling said she has written new "Harry Potter" material for the site, and it includes information she has been "hoarding" about the characters and settings.

"The digital generation will be able to enjoy a safe, unique online reading experience built around the 'Harry Potter' books," she said. "Pottermore will be the place where fans of any age can share, participate in, and rediscover the stories."

Pottermore.com also has a Twitter account.

Rowling's seventh and final Harry Potter novel, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," was published in 2007. The final film in the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2," hits theatres on July 15. Check out the trailer below.
