Tommy Mottola and his wife, Mexican singer Thalia, recently welcomed a son, Alejandro Mottola.
Matthew Alejandro Mottola was born on June 25, weighing 7lbs 14oz. Thalia, 39, and Mottola, 61, have been married for 10 years and have a daughter named Sabrina Sakaë, 3. Mottola was previously married to Mariah Carey.
"Thalia, Tommy y Sabrina están muy felices de anunciar el nacimiento de Matthew Alejandro Mottola el 25/06/11 a las 11:48am (peso: 7lbs 14oz)," the singer wrote on Twitter.
Mottola is the co-owner of Casablanca Records, a joint venture with the Universal Music Group. He was the head of the Sony Music Group for nearly 15 years and was the mentor and former talent manager of Marey as well as of acts like Hall & Oates, Carly Simon, Diana Ross, Gloria Estefan, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Lopez.
Carey and her husband Nick Cannon welcomed twins Moroccan Scott Cannon and Monroe Cannon on on their parents' third anniversary on April 30.
A day later, Carey, 41, and Cannon, 30, renewed their marriage vows in a ceremony Rev. Al Sharpton carried out in the hospital.
Carey has talked about her marriage to Mottola in the past, calling it "restrictive" and saying that she dreamed of being kidnapped.
"I try not to vilify him," Carey told Interview magazine in 2007, MTV reported. "I have to forgive him for being so restrictive. I understand him not wanting me to go out and hang out all night, but going to a spa with friends every now and then, or doing things on my own would have made a world of difference. And I'd probably still be with him if I had."
"Maybe it's for my own good that I wasn't 'allowed' to do those things, but that's not how it felt," she said. "It felt like suddenly I had a strict father."
