The trailer for Tom Cruise's newest installment of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," hit the web on Tuesday and sent fans buzzing. The clip can be seen below.
Cruise returns to the familiar role of Ethan Hunt, an Impossible Missions Force agent, which he has played in three previous films. The movie set for release on Dec. 16, 2011 and the cast includes Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Vladimir Mashkov, Ving Rhames, Josh Holloway and Simon Pegg.
"One of the things that I always wanted with the franchise was for it to not have a number afterwards, because I haven't made sequels of films, and I never really thought of these films as sequels," the French news wire Agence France Presse quoted Cruise as telling reporters in Dubai back in November. "When you see each one of them, I think it's distinctive of each film-maker. It's a series that I love doing."
The actor performed a death-defying stunt seen in the trailer when he dangled more than 2,700 feet in the air from the Burj Khalifa tower, the world's tallest building in Dubai.
"He's just got a lot of energy, that guy," Renner said of Cruise to OnTheRedCarpet.com in February. "He's tremendously generous and giving. He teaches me a lot. Tom's pushing for (the movie) to be bigger. It's going to be a lot of action. We've got a lot of work to do."
