Orange County Jails have been ordered to provide better access to the disabled, prompting major facility changes.

A judge ordered modifications to cells, toilets, showers and other facilities at four jails in order to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Deputies must also be trained on how to handle disabled patients.

The ruling comes after a quadriplegic inmate filed a lawsuit in 2001.
