Beyonce performed at New York's Central Park, in a concert that aired on "Good Morning America," on Friday, July 1, to promote her new album, "4."

In an interview on the show, the 29-year-old Grammy-winning singer, one of the most popular artists in the world, also talked about her upcoming role in a Clint Eastwood movie and said she is honored to have been chosen for the part.

Wearing a short, yellow crocheted outfit that showed off her legs, Beyonce performed several of her songs at the concert, including her new hit "Run The World (Girls)."

"I know I try to write songs and sing songs that I think we as women need to hear," she said in an interview with "GMA" host Robin Roberts. "I know sometimes it's hard to realize how amazing we are."

Beyonce's fourth solo album, "4," was released on Tuesday.

"My birthday is on the 4th, my mother's birthday on the 4th, my husband's birthday is on the 4th, I got married on the 4th - it's just a number that keeps coming around and this is my fourth album," she said. "A lot of the fans out there today named the album. I saw on Twitter and I saw on Facebook and when I ran into some of the fans, they were like, 'We're waiting for '4,' so I said, 'All right ya'll, ya'll can name the record, here we go."

Beyonce began an acting career about a decade ago and starred in the 2006 musical film "Dreamgirls," which earned Jennifer Hudson an Oscar. Beyonce later played Etta James in the 2008 movie "Cadillac Records" and is set to appear in the film "A Star Is Born," which is directed by Eastwood and tells of a troubled actor who tries to help a young singer and actress find fame." The film is set for release in 2013.

"Clint Eastwood, can you believe that?" Beyonce said on "GMA." "I can't believe it still. I know when I met with him I was just in awe. I'm so, so honored that he believes in me. I can't wait to do this film. I'm the woman, represented ... I represent this generation's talent and for me to be the chosen person, as an African-American woman, is incredible."

Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to play Beyonce's co-star, Deadline.com reported. The actor has not confirmed this.

Beyonce is meanwhile continuing to promote her music. On Thursday, she made a surprise appearance at a Target store in the New York City neighborhood of Harlem. Children from a local Boys and Girls Club danced to Beyonce's new track, "Countdown" and the singer gave them a big group hug in the middle of the song, MTV News reported (see video of her appearance below).

Beyonce's last album, "I Am... Sasha Fierce," was released in 2008 and earned the singer six Grammy Awards, the most Grammys ever won by a female artist in one night. Beyonce has sold more than 75 million records and earned 16 Grammy Awards in her career - including13 as a solo artist and three as a member of Destiny's Child.

In May, she was honored with the Millennium Award at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards.
