OTRC: 'True Blood' star Ryan Kwanten talks about his 'powers' and premiere date (Video)

Ryan Kwanten talks to OnTheRedCarpet.com about 'True Blood.'

"True Blood" returned for its fourth season last week and OnTheRedCarpet.com caught up with Ryan Kwanten, who plays Jason Stackhouse, one of the only characters who has no superhuman powers.

"I think me and Lafayette [are the only characters without special powers], but even him now, there are some elusions to it," Kwanten told OnTheRedCarpet.com co-host Chris Balish. "I think it's kind of hilarious that Jason is the only one without superhero powers when he wants one so badly."

The fourth season premiere of the HBO hit show matched the series' record for its highest ratings. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 5.4 million viewers tuned in to watch the premiere, up six percent from last year's premiere with 5.1 million viewers.

Kwanten brought his parents to the premiere and was pleasantly surprised that his character didn't appear nude in the first episode.

"I took my mum [to the season premiere] and also my dad, but he sort of hangs on the sidelines, so she walked the red carpet with me. She's always the date for these things, it's sort of a superstition thing I guess," Kwanten told Balish. "She liked it. Fortunately for me, Jason wasn't too revealed in that first episode, so I got out of it nicely, I think."

Kwanten's character became a police officer before the fourth season premiere, while his sister Sookie (Anna Paquin) was away in fairy land.

"This is the season of the biggest growth for Jason," Kwanten told The Hollywood Reporter recently. "He started, in my view, very low on the evolutionary totem pole, so he could only go up. This is a real season of where the young boy turns into a man. He's been given a position of power and he's now a cop. He's forced to try and raise a whole tribe of people, and then eventually fight for his life."

Kwanten is currently promoting his upcoming action flick, "Griff the Invisible," which follows an awkward office worker who assumes the identity of a superhero at night. Griff's secret identity is compromised when he falls in love with Melody (Maeve Dermody), an eccentric daydreamer. "Griff the Invisible" is slated for a limited release on August 19, 2011.
