Gum, teeth disease may delay pregnancy chance

LOS ANGELES

Researchers at a fertility conference Wednesday in Sweden said that women who want to get pregnant should brush their teeth and floss regularly.

Periodontal disease can delay the time it takes to conceive by two months, according to researchers.

Inflammation caused by oral bacteria may affect tissue in the reproductive system.

This is the first time gum disease has been identified among the factors that affect a woman's chances of getting pregnant.
