It's a boy for Jewel!
The singer and her husband Ty Murray, a professional bull rider, welcomed their first child named Kase Townes Murray on Monday, July 11. The baby arrived at 7 p.m. and weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
"Ty and I are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy Kase Townes Murray into the world! We are over come with happiness - it really is as great as everyone told us it would be- better even," Jewel said in a statement on her website.
The 36-year-old singer and co-host of the Bravo reality talent series, "Going Platinum," and Murray married in 2008. "Going Platinum," a 10-episode reality contest for singer-songwriters, premiered on May 30 and is co-hosted by Kara DioGuardi, a former "American Idol" judge.
Jewel first announced her pregnancy in January. The singer's car was hit by a fire truck in March when she was five months pregnant, but she and the baby were not harmed.
"Hey everyone-just got released from the ER & my Dr's office- everything is fine-me & the baby r ok," The singer Tweeted after the accident. "Thanx 4 all your thoughts & prayers."
A few days before the boy's birth, Jewel Tweeted that she was creating something special for her kid. "I wrote the baby a small book of poems. Assembling it now-while I have time to do it," she wrote on Sunday.
