Coastal fishing ban hits Laguna Beach in fall

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif.

It's because of state regulations banning fishing from certain coastal areas.

The city's fish and game commission is closing a 7-mile stretch of the coastline to fishing and lobster-fishing.

The affected area is just north of El Moro to just south of Treasure Island and goes out 3 miles.

A councilman says commercial-lobster fishermen will lose 30 to 40 percent of their income when the ban begins on October 1.
