Halle Berry intruder pleads not guilty to stalking charge

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

The actress did not attend the hearing, but has come face-to-face at least twice with Richard Franco since Saturday, when he first breached security at her Hollywood Hills home.

Franco, 27, was arrested late Monday after off-duty officers saw him jump the wall of Berry's Hollywood Hills home.

In a court declaration, Berry details a terrifying experience. She said Franco was at her house Saturday and Sunday and came within a foot of her, outside her kitchen door.

"Panicking and in fear of my life, I turned my body and quickly hit the deadbolt lock on the glass door," Berry said. "I grabbed my phone and ran as fast as I could upstairs, slamming each door behind me as I ran."

Franco is scheduled to appear in court July 27 for a preliminary hearing where some of the evidence against him will be presented.

He faces up to three years in prison if convicted. He remains jailed with bail set at $150,000.
