$300K worth of pot found on pleasure boat off Dana Point

DANA POINT, Calif.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Customs and Border Patrol agents on a boat stopped a 23-foot Neptune cuddy pleasure boat near Dana Point for a routine boarding, according to the agency.

Agents found several hidden compartments on board with packages inside. Agents brought the boat and the two male occupants to shore.

Fifty-five bundles of marijuana were found in the compartments. According to the agency, the contraband weighed nearly 500 pounds and has an estimated street value of approximately $300,000.

The two men on the boat were detained.

Two other men were found at a nearby dock with a trailer and a vehicle, apparently waiting for the interdicted boat to dock. The two men were also placed in custody.

Federal charges are expected to be filed against the four men.
