Actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena got close to police action on Wednesday when the two were spotted at the crime scene of a Los Angeles gang shooting.
The two actors were riding along with police who were on patrol in South Los Angeles where the scene of a gang shooting occurred late Wednesday night. The incident occurred during an anti-gang event called Summer Night Lights.
The Associated Press reports that the gang member shot a rival and the shooting victim is hospitalized with grazing bullet wounds above his lip and on an arm.
According to the wire service, the two are researching police work in preparation for their roles in the upcoming film "End of Watch." The film focuses on the partnership of two police officers.
The actor made headlines on Tuesday after his episode of "Man Vs. Wild" aired and featured him eating a worm on camera.
