Norwalk man shot by own brother, clings to life

July 17, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
A Norwalk man is clinging to life after being shot by his own brother.

It happened in the 12100 block of Lakeland Road Sunday morning. Deputies say the victim's brother is 38-year-old Charles Hornburg. He called 911 and told dispatchers what happened.

The victim, 41-year-old Carl Hornburg, remains in critical, death imminent condition, which is extremely grave.

"The brother will be charged with attempted murder at this time," said Deputy Benjamin Grubb from Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. "If the victim does succumb to his injuries, the suspect will be charged with murder."

No word yet on what may have prompted the shooting. Deputies are asking anyone with information to come forward and call 800-222-TIPS.
