MTV's "Jersey Shore" isn't ruining the image of New Jersey after all, according to a new national poll.

In fact, the show, which depicts a group of party-loving, self-proclaimed "Guidos and Guidettes," may even be helping the real Jersey shore by calling more attention to it.

The Fairleigh Dickinson poll found that 43 percent of Americans who have seen the show have a favorable opinion of the Garden State, according to the Associated Press.

People in the Northeast gave Jersey the highest favorable rating - 48 percent. But they also had the highest unfavorable rating - 27 percent.

The popular reality TV series, which debuted in 2009 and became the top-rated cable show of 2010, features stars such as Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and Paul "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio.

One of the cast members, Vinny Guadagnino, reportedly recently left the Seaside Heights house he had shared his cast mates while taping an upcoming episode. He left after getting into an argument with someone, Us Weekly magazine reported.

The program's fourth season, which is set in Italy, is set to air on August 4. The cast began filming season 5 in New Jersey in late June.
