'Friends with Benefits': Not for kids

July 20, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis explore the concept of good pals hooking up in the new romantic comedy, "Friends with Benefits" and both get naked doing it.

The film was initially set to have a tamer PG-13 rating, but Timberlake and director Will Gluck had a different idea.

"He and I collectively went to the studio and said we think if you guys are brave enough, we'd like to make this an R rating, so that we can embrace what's more real and awkward and funny," Timberlake.

Patricia Clarkson plays Kunis' mom. She said she appreciates the freedom that comes along with an R rating.

"I think the real water cooler topics will be some of the frankness that Will Gluck has put on film between two people who are lovers," Clarkson said.
