Robert Pattinson explained his unconventional haircut to OnTheRedCarpet.com and talked about the most emotional scene in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 21.
"It's for the last movie I did," Pattinson told OnTheRedCarpet.com co-host Rachel Smith of his chopped locks. "It looked a lot worse [before], believe it or not."
In the movie "Cosmopolis," which the actor was recently filming, his character flees a barber shop in the middle of a haircut.
Even without his signature locks, Pattinson gets recognized everywhere he goes, but he fondly remembered his first Comic-Con event in 2008, when he was still under the radar from adoring fans.
"This was the first time, when I walked into that hall in 2008 and no one knew me," Pattinson said. "I walked in there and did the first press conference here or the first Q & A thing and afterwards, everybody recognized me and my life totally changed around."
The final installments of the "Twilight" franchise, "Breaking Dawn" sees Kristen Stewart's character marrying Pattinson's character Edward Cullen, turning into a vampire and giving birth to their child, Renesmee.
"Towards the end of the movie, the climax, I mean I can't really say what it is though I guess - that [is the most emotional scene]," Pattinson said. "That was the one moment where it really felt like wow, this is a kind of incredibly sad moment, this iconic... I can't really explain anything about it! This is terrible, I'm going to be giving away the story. But if you watch it, there's this one scene towards the end which is incredibly sad."
Stewart, 21, and Pattinson, 25, play lovers Bella and Edward in the vampire romance movies and have long been the target of dating rumors but have not confirmed a relationship.
In March, "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke said that when she cast Pattinson, it was "love at first sight" between Stewart and the British actor.
In November, the first image from "Breaking Dawn" was posted online and showed Bella's hand on a bed clutching feathers. In a scene from the books, the couple's lovemaking during their honeymoon becomes so frantic that they break the headboard on their bed and Cullen bites through a down pillow.
"Breaking Dawn" is directed by Bill Condon and its first part is set to be released on November 18, 2011. The second installment is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 16, 2012.
