The National Transportation Safety Board is heading up an investigation into a small plane crash that killed two people near Corona.

The single-engine Cessna went down Saturday in Joseph Canyon, just outside the Cleveland National Forest.

The crash set off a small brushfire near the base of a mountain. The blaze was quickly put out and limited to one acre.

Investigators said damage to the plane was so extensive, they could not read the plane's identification number.

The names of the pilot and passenger were not released.
