Jennifer Lopez celebrated her 42nd birthday over the weekend with her family and friends and reportedly appeared to be in good spirits despite her recent split from Marc Anthony, her husband and father of her twins, Emme and Max.
Lopez, a singer and actress, may soon have another reason to celebrate - she is said to be close to finalizing a deal to return as a judge on "American Idol" next year, The Wall Street Journal reported. Lopez and the show representatives have not commented.
Lopez's initial contract was worth about $12 million and expired in May, the Wall Street Journal said. She had said that month that it was "too early to tell" whether she would return to the show.
Lopez and Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler first appeared on the judging panel of FOX's hit singing contest series at the start of the 10th season in January. Tyler and veteran judge Randy Jackson are set to return for season 11, which begins in January 2012. Tyler had signed a multi-year contract, reportedly worth about $18 million.
Lopez turned 42 on Sunday, July 24.
"Thank you all of my Lovers for the birthday wishes!" Lopez Tweeted on Sunday. "I'm having an amazing day surrounded by family and friends."
She and her family and friends began the celebratory weekend on Friday with a dip at her condo's pool with her friends and family before dining at The Forge restaurant in Miami, according to People, which carried details of her birthday festivities.
The singer and actress has often dined with the children's father and her soon-to-be-ex-husband Marc Anthony at the venue. On Friday, she and her party enjoyed dishes such as a lobster, peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The appetizer consists of toasted brioche, chopped peanuts, onion marmalade and diced, chilled lobster and has been ordered in the past by stars such as Mickey Rourke and Venus Williams.
On Saturday, Lopez went shopping and then had dinner with her friends and family at the restaurant Scarpetta, People said, adding that the party dined on dishes such as spaghetti, foie gras ravioli and polenta.
On July 15, Lopez and Anthony, who is 42 and is also a singer and actor, announced they would end their marriage of seven years. The couple has not specified a reason for the split. The two married in June 2004 and their twins were born in February 2008.
The couple still plans to continue to work together on their upcoming reality talent competition series "Q'viva!: The Chosen," it was announced a day later.
The series, which is produced by "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller's XIX Entertainment, will feature Lopez and Anthony searching for talent in 21 Latin American countries, is slated to be filmed later this year.
