An Inland Empire man shot himself after allegedly murdering his wife Sunday.

Chino Police officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on the 12500 block of Arlington Lane Sunday night.

Officers arrived but did not find a suspect or victim. Family members told police a woman was visiting them at the residence when her husband showed up and shot her. Chino officers sent out descriptions of the couple.

Ontario Police then notified Chino Police they had found a woman matching the victim description at a location on the 300 block of Elm Street in Ontario. The woman was confirmed as the missing suspect. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

At about 10:30 p.m., San Bernardino Sheriff's officials located the suspect, 74-year-old Bobby Joe Winters, near his residence in San Bernardino County, according to Chino Police.

As deputies approached the suspect, Winters shot himself. He was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Chino Police believe Winters fired shots at the Chino residence, then kidnapped the victim, bringing her to the Ontario location and shooting her a third time.

Winters is charged with homicide, domestic violence and kidnapping.

The deceased wife was not identified.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Chino Police Department at (909) 628-1234.
