John Goodman has joined the cast of NBC's "Community" as the vice dean of Greendale Community College's air conditioning program, the network confirmed on Facebook.
"The casting news keeps coming! John Goodman is joining us for Season 3," the network wrote on the show's official Facebook page, linking to a New York magazine article.
Goodman, who has appeared recently on HBO's "Treme" and DirectTV's "Damages," will appear in at least six episodes of the popular comedy series.
"The Greendale Community College only has one part of it that is actually nationally renowned, and it's their air conditioning repair program," creator Dan Harmon told New York magazine. "And it's sort of a separate annex on the campus that puts itself above the rest of the school, and ironically has more power than the campus itself."
The actor, who rose to fame playing Dan Connor on the long-running ABC series "Roseanne," will have a chance to face-off against the college's other leader, Dean Pelton (Jim Rash), which already has Harmon excited.
"When I heard we were going after Goodman, I got really excited about the idea of Jim Rash and Goodman on camera together," Harmon continued.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The Wire" actor Michael K. Williams will also be joining "Community," as the school's new biology teacher.
NBC announced that "Community" would be renewed for a third season on March 17, 2011.
