Red light bed claims to turn back aging

LOS ANGELES

It promises to reduce fine lines, tighten skin, shrink pores and even improve the look of scars. All you need to do is lie down in the tanning bed for 15 minutes, three times a week.

Despite several scientific studies, the treatment has never actually been medically proven to work. But people who have tried it say it works.

"My skin just feels a little bit more youthful after I've done it," said user Melissa Vandenbrick. "I've noticed some lightening of pigmentation spots that I've had. And I had a mole removed where I had a scare and it's significantly reduced the appearance of that as well, so I've been very happy so far with it."

Red Light Therapy is not the same as tanning; you do not get a tan from it.

It appears there are no side effects, but you have to continue the therapy indefinitely in order to maintain results.
