OTRC: Olivia Wilde: 'Cowboys & Aliens' is 'original,' 'unpredictable' (Video)

Olivia Wilde talks to OnTheRedCarpet.com at Comic-Con about 'Cowboys & Aliens' which debuts July 29.

Olivia Wilde says potential viewers of her new film "Cowboys & Aliens" can expect "something really original and unpredictable."

The movie is set in 1873 and tells of a loner named Jake, played by Daniel Craig, who wakes up one day with no memories. He learns that he is a criminal who is wanted by the likes of Colonel Dolarhyde, the ruler of the town, who is played by Harrison Ford. The two must unite for a greater purpose - to defeat invading aliens. Wilde plays Ella Swenson, a traveler.

"Cowboys & Aliens" is directed by Jon Favreau, who helmed the "Iron Man" movies. It combines the Western and sci-fi genres and is based on a 2006 graphic novel by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.

"You're in store for something really original and unpredictable," Wilde told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Rachel Smith at the Comic-Con International 2011. "We're taking something as classic as a Western, we're adding something as new as a sci-fi, and it really works."

Wilde also embraces another genre - raunchy comedy, in the R-rated comedy film "The Change-Up," which hits theaters on August 5/

The movie depicts the hijinks that ensue after a married man, played by Jason Bateman, switches bodies with his single best friend, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, so that he can pursue his hot co-worker, played by Wilde. Leslie Mann portrays Bateman's character's wife and mother of his baby.

Reporting by Rachel Smith, co-host of KABC Television's entertainment show "On The Red Carpet" (check for local TV listings).
