Man jumps on back of shark, rides for 15 feet

MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass.

When Erik Jacobs saw a basking shark swim up to his boat, he decided to literally jump on it.

He leapt over the side of the boat and rode the shark 15 feet through the water.

"I was like, you know, I need to feel this fish. I need to swim with him. I need to be part of this. It was very exciting, until I realized how far the boat was from me, and I needed to get back on the boat," said Jacobs.

The stunt isn't quite as frightening as it looks. Basking sharks only eat plankton and small fish, and Jacobs, an avid fisherman, knew exactly what kind of shark it was.
