Lucy Liu has joined the cast of the TNT cop drama "Southland," for the show's fourth season.
The "Charlie's Angels" actress will play a member of the Los Angeles Police Department in every episode of the upcoming season as a "special guest star," according a press release from the network.
"TNT's Southland takes viewers directly to the streets of LA to present an intensely personal, first-person look at cops and detectives on the beat," the press release read. "The extraordinary show has redefined the police drama genre with a raw, authentic look at the lives and work of detectives and beat cops."
"Southland" follows LAPD officers policing the sometimes gritty streets of Los Angeles and the show's main relationship is between rookie officer Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie of "The O.C.") and his partner and training officer John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz).
McKenzie and Cudlitz told OnThRedCarpet.com in January that they trained for their roles as police officers by doing ride-alongs with the real LAPD.
"Southland" also stars Shawn Hatosy and Regina King and its fourth season is slated to premiere in January 2012.
Liu has had recurring roles on ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money," "Cashmere Mafia" and Fox's "Ally McBeal." She has also appeared in films like "Kill Bill: Vol. 1," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "Chicago."
