West Hills 4-hour standoff ends peacefully

WEST HILLS, LOS ANGELES

The incident began along the 7700 block of Sedan Avenue just before 7 a.m. after a report of a drug overdose at a home on Sedan Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, the man took off in a red truck but stopped a short time later. Police immediately surrounded the man, who was believed to be armed and on drugs.

The suspect surrendered about four hours later. Paramedics and firefighters loaded the man into an ambulance.

No shots were fired during the incident. Police did not say whether a weapon was found during the arrest.

The suspect was described as a 25-year-old parolee. His name has not yet been released.
