8 displaced after huge tree topples in Sunland Trailer Park

SUNLAND, LOS ANGELES

The tree fell on the 10400 block of Sherman Grove Avenue, damaging a total of five mobile homes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

It was unknown exactly why the tree came down.

Some residents at the Sunland Trailer Park say the trees on the property are well maintained, and there was no trace of high winds Thursday morning or Wednesday night.

The tree collapsed one bedroom of a mobile home, caused damage to three vehicles and displaced eight people from their mobile homes. The displaced residents were being assisted by the Red Cross.

William Bebow says his mobile home is basically split in half.

"I was sitting right beneath where that tree came down. I thought it was a big earthquake or something. Some people said there was a bunch of light, but I didn't see the light. I think it hit some power cables coming down, and that's what happened," described Bebow.

The cleanup was slated to take place throughout Thursday morning.
