NoHo arson suspect's arraignment postponed

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES

Officers took 34-year-old Kurt Billie in to custody after a motor home fire Tuesday morning in North Hollywood.

Detectives are linking him to a series of fires in the San Fernando Valley that began mid-July. Authorities say all the fires took place within a 1.5-square-mile radius, amounting to more than $1 million in damage.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are looking into whether there are additional suspects.

Eyewitness News has learned that Billie is a former Marine who spent five years in a Japanese prison for setting fire to several restaurants in Okinawa.

Billie remains jailed on $250,000 bail.
