Bell's Robert Rizzo sells posh Huntington Beach home

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.

The home owned by Bell's disgraced former city manager will officially be on the market on Friday.

Realtor Bill Cuppy says Rizzo bought the 3,200-square-foot, two-story classic for $1.3 million in 2007 and invested thousands more in luxury upgrades, such as a walk in closet with custom cabinetry and a chandelier.

According to Cuppy, the home is sure to attract several interested buyers.

"Yes I've got a feeling we're going to see a lot of interest in the property," said Cuppy. "I'm hoping by Monday we'll have multiple offers on the property."

The remodeled house, which was once vandalized with toilet paper, is near downtown Huntington Beach and nine blocks from the shore.

The $949,000 asking price is considerably lower than what Rizzo paid for it four years ago when he was allegedly earning an $800,000 yearly salary from the city of Bell.

Rizzo moved out of the home in June. He's facing approximately 50 criminal charges in a corruption scandal involving Bell city funds.

Cuppy says he doesn't know where Rizzo is living now, but that he's selling the home to get his affairs in order before the trial.

"Quite honestly I don't think the previous owner has anything to do with the appeal of the home," said Cuppy. "I think the home stands on its own and it's a beautiful house."
