Man, woman found dead in Chatsworth home

CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES

Police combed the scene after the grisly discovery inside the home in the 20400 block of Lassen Street at about 6 a.m.

Police are calling the case a double homicide but are releasing few other details. Authorities did not say what prompted them to respond to the home.

"Because of the sensitivity with everything involved, I can't reveal any information regarding the type of investigation we're doing, where it originated, what was discovered, what we're working on, I just can't," said LAPD Capt. Maureen Ryan.

According to the coroner's office, the bodies were badly decomposed, and the coroner may not be able to identify the victims until next week.

Neighbors said they saw police officers looking into trash cans and removing several items from the house. One neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said she saw two people in police custody.

"The two young men that were in handcuffs, I don't know what the relation was to the house, but they seemed like not older than 18," she said.

The LAPD would not confirm if anyone was arrested.

Neighbors say the home used to be a childcare center, and then an assisted living facility. They believed it was in foreclosure. Some thought it was odd when they suddenly spotted people on the property.

A man walking around on the property on Saturday night had no comment.
