Camarillo man arrested after search turned up weapons, drugs

CAMARILLO, Calif.

When authorities searched Jacob Carl Manuel's home on the 600 block of N. Las Posas Road on Thursday, they said they found multiple boxes of ammunition, several firearms including an AK-47 assault rifle, a M10 rifle and an unregistered Ruger Mini-14 rifle.

Investigators said they found a small amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia inside Manuel's residence. They also found a pit bull locked inside of a dog crate, inside of a closed closet with no access to food or water.

Police learned that Manuel had somehow found out about their presence and was hiding somewhere in the area. They tracked him down in his car nearby and arrested him for unlawful firearm activity, possession of large capacity magazines, possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a hypodermic needle and cruelty to an animal.

Manuel, 23, was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility. His bail was set at $55,000.
