Newport Beach Police alerted the public Monday a Costa Mesa man had sold stolen paddleboards and kayaks to unsuspecting buyers.

Eric James Fischer, 26, was arrested on suspicion of multiple thefts.

Police said Fischer had four paddleboards in his possession that were stolen in Newport Beach. He also had a kayak thought to be stolen, an Ocean Kayak Classic Frenzy, according to police.

Police believe Fischer has been stealing the personal watercraft for several months and selling the items on Craigslist.org.

Police warned the public anyone who bought items from Fischer could be in possession of stolen property. Fischer may have used aliases in the past, according to the department.

If you have purchased property from Fischer or believe the described kayak is yours, contact Newport Beach Police Detective Brad Miller at (949) 644-3767.
