Soak up all things Disney at D23 Expo in OC

ANAHEIM, Calif.

The event at the Anaheim Convention Center is being called a must-see for die-hard fans of Disney movies, TV shows and theme parks.

Head of D23 Steven Clark said the event will feature rare, behind-the-scenes items including the actual limousine that Walt Disney took to the premiere of "Mary Poppins" at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in 1964.

Also, fans will be able to see a replica of the Black Pearl ship used in the second and third installments of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.

Those fascinated with Disney history will enjoy the Treasure of the Archives exhibit, which includes rare items like Walt Disney's Disneyland name tag from the 1950s.

Kids can hop on the Perry the Platypus bus from the Phineas & Ferb movie on the Disney Channel. The bus is an interactive exhibit for kids to go in and play video games and have interactions with the characters from the movie.

Clark said the D23 Expo is sure to please a wide range of Disney fans.

"Wherever you lie on the spectrum of Disney fans, we have something for you," he said. "Every part of Disney is represented all under one roof inside."

Also part of the event is the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony. Clark describes the award as the most prestigious honor bestowed on the men and women who have contributed to the Disney legacy.

Regis Philbin, Jim Henson and the voices behind the Disney Princess Court will be honored this year.
