Officers from the Orange Police Department arrested two people this week suspected of attempted murder.

Steve Fry and Sandra Higareda were arrested for allegedly assaulting Gary Haynes in a murder attempt that took place Sunday.

Officers responded to a report of an unconscious man at an industrial storage unit at 1351 N. Manzanita Street in Orange on Sunday at about 9 a.m. The victim Haynes was found unconscious with severe head injuries. He was hospitalized at UC Irvine Medical Center in critical condition.

Police say Fry and Higareda confronted Haynes at the storage facility Saturday night. It was not clear what the source of the conflict was. A second man was with Haynes at the location when Fry and Higareda arrived, according to police.

Haynes was allegedly punched and thrown from a loft in the storage unit. Police say the second man with Haynes, who was not identified, was hit in the head with a handgun.

Police arrested Fry in Fullerton on Tuesday and Higareda in Santa Ana on Wednesday. Both were arrested without incident. The two were booked at Orange County Jail for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon and were held on $500,000 bail.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Aaron Towner at (714) 744-7456.
