Authorities say the driver of a gray 1996 Nissan hit Brittney Cheeseman of Los Angeles at Manchester Boulevard and Market Street on Saturday at about 10:30 p.m.
Cheeseman was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. Doctors said the fetus was unresponsive and showing no signs of life.
According to witnesses, the driver ran a red light and did not stop after hitting her. They were able to give police the license plate number of the car.
Police arrested 57-year-old Janine Mayfield of Inglewood on Sunday afternoon. She is being held on $50,000 bail.
