William Petersen of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and his wife Gina Cirone, recently welcomed twins via a surrogate mother.
The couple's son and daughter were born on July 5 in Los Angeles, People magazine reported on Tuesday, quoting a spokesperson for the actor as saying the babies were born prematurely but "are improving every day."
Petersen, 58, and Cirone wed in 2003. The twins are their first children together. Petersen has a 36-year-old daughter, Maite Nerea, from a previous marriage and is a grandfather to her two sons.
The actor Dr. Gilbert "Gil" Grissom on "CSI" regularly between 2000 and 2009 and also served as an executive producer of the CBS crime series.
Petersen also stars in the independent drama film "Detatchment," which was released earlier this year and also features Adrien Brody, "Mad Men" actress Christina Hendricks and "Breaking Bad" cast member Bryan Cranston. Peterson recently filmed the movie "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World," a romantic comedy starring Steve Carell, Keira Knightley and Adam Brody.
