The smallest firefighter of Rancho Cucamonga Fire District, Josh Garcia, suited up with his very own gear, including a helmet with his name.
Firefighters at Banyan Fire Station welcomed him with a pancake breakfast and a tour of their station.
Then with lights flashing and sirens blaring, Garcia and a few friends got a ride to their school, complete with an escort of emergency vehicles.
His parents said they've been deeply touched by the outpouring of community support.
"A lot of positive happy moments - that's what we need," said Garcia's mother, Karen.
