Beyoncé is set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 28, the network announced on Wednesday.
"We are thrilled to have Beyoncé return to her rightful musical home at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards," Amy Doyle, executive producer of the 2011 MTV VMAs and MTV's EVP of Music & Talent said in a statement. "Her performances at the VMAs are legendary ? leaving everyone breathless and talking for days. We can't wait to see her set the stage on fire once again!"
The "Run the World (Girls)" singer has three nominations this year, including Best Female Video, Best Choreography and Best Cinematography. She has previously received nine Moonmen, including a 2009 Video of the Year award for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)."
The Awards show is also slated to have performances by Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Adele, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Young the Giant, Pitbull, and Ne-Yo, among others. Check out the full list of nominees.
It was announced on Saturday that Selena Gomez will host the VMA pre-show and will be "reporting breaking news and interviewing her peers alongside MTV News correspondents Sway, Jim Cantiello and James Montgomery," according to the press release.
The band Cobra Starship is scheduled to perform during the pre-show, which will also include an exclusive teaser from "Jersey Shore."
Fans can vote online in general Video Music Award categories like Video of the Year, but are exempt from voting in the professional categories like Best Art Direction.
Beyoncé has sold more than 75 million records and earned 16 Grammy Awards in her career - including 13 as a solo artist and three as a member of Destiny's Child.
Her 2008 album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," earned the singer six Grammy Awards, the most Grammys ever won by a female artist in one night. Meanwhile Michal Jackson and Carlos Santana hold the record for most earned in one night by a single artist, with nine each.
The singer's fourth album, titled "4," was released on June 28.
In May, she was honored with the Millennium Award at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards and in June 2010, Knowles was ranked second on Forbes list of the 100 Most Powerful and Influential celebrities in the world and first on its list of the Most Powerful and Influential musicians.
The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the pre-show at 8.
