New security technology at Toledo Express

Toledo, OH Volunteers with TSA demonstrated how the new technology works by walking through as their bodies were screened. An outline of a person, which is the same outline for every passenger appears on a screen at the check point. Questionable items are highlighted in yellow, "under this system, a generic image is displayed and the officer can view it right at the check point, and resolve items quickly and send the passengers to their flight if there are no anomalies detected," says TSA Representative Jim Fotenos.

Because the older system was more detailed, images could not be viewed at check points, " passenger specific images were sent to a remotely located room where an officer would view it for anomaly and communicate wireless with an officer at a check point."

Toledo Express has been using the new system for two weeks. TSA representatives say it will expand to 40 more airports within the next month.
