"The Hunger Games" fans will finally have a glimpse of Jennifer Lawrence in action as Katniss Everdeen when a clip from the film debuts at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 28.

Lawrence will be at the event to introduce the scene, but MTV gave fans a sneak peek at the clip in a new promotional spot released on Thursday, which can be seen below.

The video features the burning mockingjay symbol, which was also featured on the promotional poster for the film, and a quick cut of Lawrence as Everdeen gazing up at the sky.

Fans of the popular book series recently saw new photos of Lawrence decked out in Everdeen's hunting gear when official images from the film were released online earlier this month. The film adaptation of the popular novel by Suzanne Collins will hit theaters on March 23, 2012.

"The Hunger Games" is the first book in the trilogy of novels based around the character Katniss Everdeen. Everdeen lives in the post-apocalyptic North America, which is now called Panem. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event put on by the government in Capitol city, where a boy and a girl from each district fight to the death.

The new photos also included looks at co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. Hutcherson, 18, dyed his hair blond for the role of Peeta Mellark, a baker's son who competes for Everdeen's affections. The character accompanies Everdeen into the 74th annual Hunger Games as the boy chosen to fight from her district.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Hemsworth plays Gale Hawthorne, Everdeen's childhood friend who shares a "transcendent bond" with her.

On Monday, August 8, it was announced that the sequel for the film called "Catching Fire," based on the follow-up novel to "The Hunger Games," will be released on Nov. 22, 2013.

Others who have been cast in "The Hunger Games" include Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, the "upbeat" host of the Hunger Games, Wes Bentley of "American Beauty," who will play head game mastermind Seneca Crame, Elizabeth Banks, who will take on the role of Effie Trinket and Donald Sutherland is set to play President Snow.

Jack Quaid, the son of actors Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, Leven Rambin, Dayo Okeniyi, Amanda Stenberg, Jeremy Marinas and Dakota Hood have also been linked to the movie.

Check out the clip from "The Hunger Games" below. The MTV Video Music Awards is set to air on Sunday at 9 p.m. on MTV.
