Former "Alias" star Michael Vartan says his love scenes with Zoe Saldana in "Colombiana" are "very choreographed."
"You've got the boom operator hovering around, you've got the director saying, 'Move your knee, you've got to cover her nipple.' It's chaos, you've got people talking to you during the actual scene, more times than not, to guide you," Vartan told OnTheRedCarpet.com in a satellite interview on August 24. "It's a very choreographed and sort of mechanical process."
"Colombiana," which hit theaters on August 26, stars Saldana as Cataleya, who witnesses her parents' murder in Bogota, Columbia and grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. She works as a professional hit man by day and at night, tracks down the mobster responsible for her parents' death, one vigilante murder at a time. Vartan stars as Saldana's love interest, a sensitive painter who falls for the mysterious Cat.
"Sadly, I do not get to kick posterior, or even look at posterior, I do get to touch posterior, so I guess that's something!" Vartan continued. "I am the love struck love interest of the story. I joke about it but it's actually a necessary tool in the movie because she is such a ruthless killing machine and she's so good at doing that that I think our story humanizes her just a little bit - just enough so that people can start thinking, maybe she's a bionic woman at work here."
Vartan is perhaps best known for his role as Michael Vaughn in the ABC series "Alias," where he starred opposite Jennifer Garner, who he dated from 2003 until 2004. Michael Vartan currently appears opposite Jada Pinkett Smith in the TNT series "Hawthorne."
The 42-year-old actor has also appeared in films like "Never Been Kissed," "Monster-in-Law," "Rogue" and "One Hour Photo."
In April, Vartan married bridal shop owner Lauren Skaar, who he met two years prior in a Whole Foods grocery store, according to People magazine. "I'm going to take a break, not always a willing break as an actor, sometimes you're just out of work and that's just the way it is," Vartan said in the satellite interview. "I have some time off to look for more work and I have to go on a honeymoon with my beautiful new wife. At least I have something exciting to do. I need to get work soon, so if anyone out there is hiring..."
