Cher is not keeping quiet against people who disagree with her son appearing on the 13th season of "Dancing With The Stars."
The legendary singer took to her official Twitter page to speak out against comments made on blogs and message board against her son being cast on the reality series in September. She also urged fans to voice their support of Bono in the competition.
"Lovelies! Chaz is Being Viciously Attacked on Blogs & Message boards about being on 'DWTS'! This is Still America right ? It took guts 2 do it," Cher wrote on Twitter Wednesday. "Can u guys check out sites & give him your support? BTW ... Mothers don't stop Getting angry with stupid bigots who [expletive] with their children," she said in another Tweet.
Bono, an LGBT activist and the only child of Cher and her late ex-husband, musician Sonny Bono, is the first transgender contestant to compete on the show. Bono was born Chastity Bono but underwent a sex change in 2009.
"I support him no matter what he chooses 2do! God! will there always be haters! It took COURAGE 2 do' dwts' ! TG [thank god] Chaz has an Unlimited supply," Cher said in another Tweet on Thursday.
There have been some negative reactions to Chaz's casting, particularly on ABC message boards, as The Hollywood Reporter noted.
Conrad Green, an executive producer for "Dancing With The Stars," talked to the industry paper about Chaz's casting saying, "What we try to do is reflect a broad range of the entertainment world in the casting of the show, and we're always trying to find new things that people haven't seen, new types of stories and that's what we've been doing this season."
Cher also said that it took a lot for Bono to decide to do the show. "Bet VAST MAJORITY of People will LOVE CHAZ on DWTS ! & it's took [expletive] Guts 2! Chaz isn't exactly the 'Gotta Dance Gotta Dance' kinda Guy," she wrote in a Tweet.
Bono thanked his mother for her support on his Twitter account saying, " @cher Thanks for all your support mom. The haters are just motivating me to work harder and stay on 'DWTS' as long as I possibly can."
Bono's partner Lacey Schwimmer said she was "thrilled" to have Bono as dance partner.
