Pop music legend Madonna is reportedly working on a new album, her 12th studio recording, which she said in a recent interview may debut in the spring 2012.

The musician spoke to Sweden's Sveriges Television, according to Billboard.com while promoting her film "W.E." at the Venice film festival in Italy. The interview can be seen below.

The singer and actress wrote and directed the film about the relationship between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson.

Madonna said she has "started a little bit of work in the studio" for her upcoming album. "When I go back to New York till the end of the year I'll be in the recording studio."

When asked what fans can expect for her for the new record, Madonna simply replied, "More good music."

"I think the first single ... I'm not sure. February or March and then the album will come out in the spring," she said about the release dates. "I'm looking forward to working on it."

The website notes that her new album will be the first since entering her $120 million deal with Live Nation in 2007, after leaving the Maverick label she started with Time Warner. The singer's last record for her former label and last album of original recordings was 2008's "Hard Candy."

Madonna's manager Guy Oseary confirmed on his Twitter page that the singer hit the studio in July. "It's official.. Madonna's 1st day in the recording studio for the new album... Very exciting.. Happy 4th of july," he wrote on July 4.

Last month, the singer celebrated her 53rd birthday with a romantic getaway with 24-year-old French break dancer Brahim Zaibat.

Zaibat recently opened up about meeting the singer, telling the British newspaper the Daily Mail, "It wasn't like meeting a monster! She's just a woman like all the others. She's an extraordinary artist and world famous, of course, but a woman above all."

The pop star, who officially turned 53 on Tuesday, August 16, has been linked to Zaibat since last year, after he performed at the launch of Madonna's clothing line at Macy's in New York, following her split from Brazilian model Jesus Luz, who is also 24.
