People around the world can register now for a spot among the 700 seats along the red carpet walkway leading to the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center.
The Oscars will be held at the Kodak Theatre on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 and will be televised live on ABC7.
Registrants can enter themselves and one person. A random drawing will select the winners, who will be announced in late September, according to the Academy.
After the red-carpet arrivals, bleacher guests can watch the Academy Awards telecast at a nearby location.
The online registration closes Sunday, Sept. 18, at 9 p.m. PT/midnight ET.
Only online applications will be accepted. Travel and hotel accommodations will not be provided by the Academy.
