It happened Thursday morning near 7th Street and Studebaker Road.
Eyewitnesses say the man was driving fast and erratically just before he crashed. Bystanders tried to rescue the man from the sinking vehicle.
Firefighters eventually pulled him out. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
Officials say a medical emergency caused the man to veer off the road.
