Salvage teams pumped water out of the docked ship, which is listing at an angle of 19.8 degrees - that's close to the "critical" tilt of 20 degrees.
Despite the list, a Dutch salvage team managed to place three pumps inside the vessel on Friday morning.
A fire in the engine room of the MS Nordlys on Thursday morning caused the evacuation of the ship before it was due to arrive at Aalesund.
Two people died in the fire and 262 people were evacuated.
The ship was traveling from Bergen to Kirkenes when the fire started.
