Margo Martindale has won the 2011 Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for her role as Mags Bennett in "Justified," marking the actress' first win and first individual nomination.

The 60-year-old actress beat out Christina Hendricks of "Mad Men," Kelly Macdonald of "Boardwalk Empire," Archie Panjabi of "The Good Wife," Christine Baranski of "The Good Wife" and Michelle Forbes of "The Killing," it was announced at Sunday's ceremony.

In the FX drama, Martindale played Mags Bennett, the matriarch of the Bennett crime family, which had a monopoly of the drug activity in the fictional version of Harlan County, Kentucky.

Martindale joined the cast in the second season. It was announced on March 29 that "Justified" was renewed for a 13-episode third season.

Martindale was raised in Jacksonville, Texas. She studied Theatre Arts at the local Lon Morris Junior College before attending the University of Michigan.

In the 1980s, Martindale worked at the Actors Theatre of Louisville in Kentucky, where she became friends with actress Kathy Bates, who was also nominated for a 2011 Emmy, for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series.

In 2004, Martindale made her Broadway debut as Big Mama in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," which earned her a Tony Award nomination.

She has appeared in films like "Dead Man Walking," "Million Dollar Baby" and "Orphan." The actress has also had stints on TV series like "The Riches," "Dexter," "Mercy" and "100 Centre Street."

The 2011 Emmy Awards ceremony was held at L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 18 and was hosted by "Glee" actress Jane Lynch. Check out a full list of nominees and winners.
