OTRC: Ron Artest on 'Dancing' elimination: They should have given Metta World Peace a chance

Metta World Peace talks to OnTheRedCarpet.com after first 'Dancing With The Stars' results show on Sep. 20, 2011.

The man formerly known as Ron Artest says they should have given Metta World Peace a chance on "Dancing With The Stars."

On Tuesday, the 31-year-old NBA star, who recently changed his name, and partner Peta Murgatroyd became the first couple to be eliminated from the current 13th season of the ABC ballroom dancing show.

They had earned the lowest score from the judges during Monday's performance (read recap).

"Ron Artest is goin', Metta World Peace is in," the Los Angeles Lakers player told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "They should have (given) Metta World Peace a chance. When you work hard and you lose, it's like, that hurts."

"They could bring World Peace back," he added. "I could practice for a whole summer, come back and be ready to ... dance with the pros. "I wish I could have danced more than entertain, but I ... had so much fun as you can see on the court, sometimes I kiss my biceps and, you know, jumpin' around for no reason. I don't feel bad because I know if I had had more time, I would have done better."

World Peace said he hoped to come back for the finale of the current 13th season and "entertain and dance my butt off." World Peace, known for his eclectic sense of humor, had said prior to his elimination that he had hoped to become more "entertaining" with his outfits. He wore a glittery costume and a bowtie earlier this week on "Dancing with the Stars." Contestant Chynna Phillips, known for her work with the musical trio 'Wilson Phillips,' and professional partner Tony Dovolani earned the top score of 22 out of 30 on Monday. Contestant J.R. Martinez, known for his service overseas and his work in the ABC daytime drama 'All My Children,' and partner Karina Smirnoff also earned a score of 22, tying the two pairs in first place this week.

The remaining 11 pairs, which also include talk show host Ricki Lake and Cher's son Chaz Bono, will return next week for another round of performances.
